Your visitors can't touch your product, see your product, turn it on or try it out. They don't have a salesperson to speak to either. They only have your description to rely on, to convince them to buy from you. It would be a shame to lose a sale just because of a poor product description.

The checklist below is merely a starting point to help put you in the mind of your user.



Product Page Checklist


___ Product page titles are descriptive

___ Only one product per page

___ Page is simple, not cluttered

___ Product pages have a consistent look and feel

___ Information on product page is layered and only one click away

___ Price is shown at the first mention of the product

___ Thumbnail images are used

___ Photos can be enlarged and show alternate views

___ Photos show size comparison

___ Image size and resolution are set low, but still shows details

___ Product's features are described

___ Product's benefits are described

___ Options can be chosen before being placed in shopping cart

___ Product availability is displayed

___ Shipping cost is shown before asking for personal information

___ Shipping date is displayed

___ Estimated delivery time is shown

___ Other costs are shown as early as possible

___ Return/Refund policies are linked to from all product pages

___ Guarantees are prominently displayed on the product page

___ Manufacturer warranty is linked to from the product page

___ Security icons are displayed

___ Product pages have links to customer/industry reviews

___ Customers can comparison shop

___ Comparisons are shown in table form

___ Related products and accessories are displayed on product page

___ Contact information is visible and available on product page

___ "Add to cart" button is close to the item description and on right hand side
