Just as you need to promote your website, you need to promote your blog (which promotes your website).  These action steps will assure that your blog is found...so your website can be found too!

Promoting your blog is much like promoting your eNewsletter: By linking to other blog posts you believe are valuable to your people, the authors of the other blogs may be inclined to link to your post(s). 

Just beware of excessive "cross-linking" of web/blog sites as this could lower your site's ranking in search engine result pages (SERPs). Stay away from "link farms" which sell cross-links.  It's much better to just acquire links organically by others seeing the value in your blog and/or posts and linking to them themselves. 



Action Steps


The basic strategy is to link your blog to your website and then link your Social Networking sites (Twitter, LinkedIn, Facebook, etc.) to your blog.  When people find you're Bio/Profile on the Social Networking sites, they'll check out your Blog content and then if this intrigues them, they'll check yout your website.

  • Blog: Post a blog post which refers to your website in a subtle informative way.


    • Type the text for your site, e.g, IncreaseOnlineProfits.com, highlight the text, and then insert a link to your site.


    • Click on the Earth icon with the sideways infinity symbol and copy & paste your website's URL (address) into the "http://" box).


  • Blog: Go to your Blog and set up a "Link List" (called a "Blogroll" in Wordpress).


  • Blog: Post a blog post which refers to others websites in an informational way.


    • Use the web/blog site's name, or person's name, or blog post's title and link to it.


  • Twitter: Go to Twitter and then your Settings in Twitter.  Edit your profile to assure that your blog URL (address) is in the "More Info URL:" box.


  • LinkedIn: Go to LinkedIn and then edit your Profile and add your blog to your Websites there.


  • Facebook: Go to Facebook and then edit your Profile and add your blog to your Websites there (under Contact Information).


  • Etc.: Go to all of your social networking profiles and add your Blog site to all of your profiles.
