Surprise Insights

If you've downloaded the  "What Are The Best Tools To Use For Social Marketing?" report and if you've been following our "77 Great Tips of Internet Marketing" and eCourse, then
this probably won't come as much of a surprise, but...
 
This report is an excellent example or "Best Practice" for issuing whitepapers on the web:

  • It has nice graphics and layout which easily and simply make the points, even if you don't read any of the text of the report.
  • It's dated and sourced (you know when it was written and by whom).
  • It's copyrighted for the author's protection. In fact it has a Creative Commons License on page 2, so the report can be shared and the author can gain more exposure - great!
  • It has a way to Follow the author on Twitter...and "Retweet this" to post it on Twitter.
  • This gives the report much more reach (perhaps geometric or exponential exposures) than if it was simply emailed and forwarded as reports like this usually are.
  • It's laid out simply and has an Executive Summary, Major Findings, and Top 10 Questions Answered.
  • All of the best/greatest insights are highlighted in yellow so you can easily spot them even if just scrolling quickly through the report.
  • There's an ad/announcement about The Social Media Success Summit 2009 in the middle of the PDF file...and do we care? - No, because we're being given such great information and insights!
  • There's an About the Author at the end with ways to contact him.
In any case, this is an excellent whitepaper that we can all aspire to and emulate in our own viral marketing.
