Killer Adwords - Novel Method of Finding/Testing Them
 
RealAge is a website where people can find out their metabolic age after taking a 20-minute survey.  What's great about this is that after taking the survey, RealAge knows enough about their subscriber's lifestyles that when they send email newsletters, people feel that they've been written "just for them" (since RealAge can segment their subscribers so well demographically). 
 
After trying the typical health and ailment-related keywords for Google Adwords, Chris d'Eon, Senior Vice President of Marketing at RealAge, found that using other, seemingly unrelated, keywords had a very powerful effect.
 
What he found was that people who might be doing Google searches on "Paris Hilton" (or other celebrity-type searches) would be drawn to a Google Ad like: "What's your RealAge? ... Prepare to Be Shocked!"
 
And actually, it was the "Prepare to Be Shocked!" that drew people to their website the most.
 
So the question is: Are there seemingly-unrelated keywords which can draw people to your website like super-magnets?  Put on your thinking cap, use some out-of-the-box thinking, and see if there are some golden keywords which others might not be thinking of which will pull people to your site. And if others aren't thinking of these words, it means they'll be less expensive for your Adword purchase.
 
As you might expect, Chris also takes multivariate testing to a new level with his experience and techniques.

You'll want to listen to Segment #2: "Solution & Results: Advertising on Google's Content Network" and I'd also highly recommend listening to Segment #3 on multivariate testing: "Solution & Results: Multivariate Testing".
 
But if you can scope out enough time to listen to all 4 segments, it will well be worth your time.
 
And yes, these podcasts are a little dated, but they're pure gold and your website profits and knowledge will both increase by listening and applying them.
