Tip of the Week
Crystal Clear Video on YouTube
Has this ever happened to you?
You create a screen capture video, you put in a lot of time and effort to make sure everything is just right. Then you upload it to YouTube only to have it look distorted? Or you embed a YouTube video on your website and it looks distorted even though it looked fine on YouTube?
If you're using Camtasia to record your videos, record to the .avi file setting and record your screen at 640 x 480.
After you've completely finished your editing, produce the video as a .wmv file, again at a size of 640 x 480. This will be the file you want to upload to YouTube.
Once you've uploaded the file, click on the "customize" icon next to the embed code that YouTube gives you. Select either the 640 or 480 width options which will adjust your embed code. If you skip this step, your video will most likely be distorted.
Now you want to copy the embed code to your webpage but you need to make a small change so that you will get the highest quality possible.
In the embed code you'll see a path to your video that looks similar to this:
You need to add this code right before the "&hl": &ap=%2526fmt%3D18 Now your code should look like this:
You'll need to do this in 2 different places within the embed code and you're done.
Your YouTube videos should now display in the highest possible quality.
