Tip of the Week
2 Easy Ways to Get Started with Social Media- 1st of all, think of social media as attending a cocktail party. You probably wouldn't stand in the center of the room and shout out "Buy my stuff!"
Instead, you'd talk to people and begin creating relationships. You'd answer questions and offer free advice, showing them your expertise in your field.
That's the way social media works as well. And here are 2 of the easiest, "dip your toe in the water" ways to get started:
- Comment on other people's blogs- search for blogs in your industry and join the discussion
- Join Yahoo Groups or Google Groups- search for groups in your industry and join the discussion
Both allow you an easy, non-threatening way to speak to potential customers.
Remember that this is a conversation, not a place to pitch your products. In your signature you can have a link back to your website but give people value by answering their questions, offering advice, being helpful.
Sooner or later you'll come to be seen as the expert and people will visit your website and they will purchase your products or service.
