Tip of the Week

Karl and I are putting together a short multi-media video presentation on IncreaseOnlineProfits which we hope, with your help will go viral. In that presentation I needed some specific images depicting a representation of buzzwords that we talk about in our articles as well as an image depicting social media terms. I looked on all of the most popular websites for royalty free images but I just couldn't find anything that I liked.

Then I thought about using "word clouds" or "tag clouds. " These are stylized ways of visually showing occurrences of words or user generated content in which the more often the word or tag occurs, the larger it's representation in the "cloud."  Here's an example of the word cloud I created for our video depicting social media terms (hopefully it's not too hard to see):

<Word cloud depicting social media terms>

I created it on this great little website I came across, Wordle.net. Wordle allows you to type in any words you want, give prominence to any words you want, and tweak your clouds with different fonts, layouts and color schemes.

Once you choose your words, you can even "randomize" your selection by letting Wordle show you an infinite number of versions of your cloud tag. You can print it out, save it to their public gallery, or do I like did and take a screen shot and then save it as a jpg.

All in all, a very cool little tool.
