Tip of the Week- Use Microsoft ClearType Tuner for Sharper Screen Captures
Back in 2000, Microsoft created ClearType, a software technology that improves the readability of text on LCDs such as computer screens, laptops and flat panel monitors. In an article I wrote entitled, "Serifs, Fonts and Font Size," I explained why text in print form such as magazines, books and newspapers is easier to read than text on a computer screen.
ClearType increases the resolution of each pixel on the screen, making each letter sharper, easier to read and less likely to leave you with a headache if you have to sit in front of your computer all day. It comes pre-installed as an "always on" feature in Windows XP, Windows Vista and Windows 7.
ClearType Tuner
If you create videos or PowerPoint presentations using screen capture programs such as Camtasia, you'll of course want any text that you're recording to be as clear and sharp as possible for your viewer. Well, Microsoft has a free utility called ClearType Tuner which you can either access and use online or download here (it comes pre-installed with Windows 7). It allows you to further enhance the legibility of the text on the screen. Several text samples are displayed and you choose the one that looks best to you.
I've used it on my computer and it makes a noticeable difference. You'll need to use Internet Explorer to use the tuner, but the changes will be apparent on any browser you use. Even if you don't use any screen capture programs, you'll find it much easier to read and much less strain on your eyes.

Check out TheSolutionMovie.com, our 90 second video and please share the movie with anyone you feel might benefit (web-owners, bloggers, authors, job seekers, speakers and others) who would like to achieve greater success.
Watch it again to affirm your own decision to improve your website and online marketing efforts.
In the near future we'll be posting articles on the IOP site which show how you can make (or have made) a movie like this for your site too.
