Tip of the Week- Don't Ask For the Lead Too Soon

Today's tip is a short but valuable one. We spend a lot of time and effort getting visitors to our site. Isn't it a shame that we may be pushing them away simply because we ask for the lead too early?

Have you ever been on a website where they ask you to fill out a form or set up an account before you even know if they have the information you're looking for? I have, and it's frustrating. I don't want to go through all of that rigmarole unless I know that this site has what I came for. I'll be you don't want too, either.

I used to own a rental listing service for people looking for houses, guest houses and apartments to rent. We charged a fee to the renter for our service and maintained both an offline and online presence.

Our customers wouldn't get the property address until they subscribed to our service, but we certainly let them search all of our listings based on their criteria before asking any information of them, let alone a fee.

Do you think my business would have suffered if I required personal information from them in advance? Of course it would have, we had competitors.

Keep in mind that your visitors don't have to be there (on your site).  They have lots of other choices. Don't make the mistake of asking for too much, too soon.  Let them look around first. I guarantee you'll end up with better quality leads.

Google Buzz

Google just launched Google Buzz, today. It's an enhancement to your Gmail account which gives you the ability to post updates about what you're doing or thinking and share them with everyone or just a select group. Gmail users will also be able to track other people's updates and you can post videos, photos and links. Check out Google's demo video.

TheSolutionMovie.com

Check out TheSolutionMovie.com, our 90 second video and please share the movie with anyone you feel might benefit (web-owners, bloggers, authors, job seekers, speakers and others) who would like to achieve greater success.

Watch it again to affirm your own decision to improve your website and online marketing efforts.

In the near future we'll be posting articles on the IOP site which show how you can make (or have made) a movie like this for your site too.
